Hey Friends! We are all after healthy snack ideas, so I thought i would provide you one of my favorites. My Gluten Free Frozen Yoghurt Fruit Bark. We all get those moment of hunger and just need something to get us through. This recipe is is the perfect combination of sweetness and nourishment. Defeating all kinds of #Hangry with this simplicity

This week we are tackling #Hangryitis… After chatting with organizations like No Kid Hungry, I want to ensure everyone, especially kids, are getting the nourishment they need, and to be honest there is a kid inside of all of us, so this applies to you no matter your amazing age 🙂

This recipe is also a shout out to a friends returning back to school, with it being an ideal snack option and ticks the , health, taste and simplicity boxes all the way through. Today we are doing FROYO healthy Snack Bark

Why is it a Healthy Snack Idea?

Now most of you know barks as that char found on the edges of slow cooked bbq meat, and as delicious as that is, this one is in a different box

You may see chocolate bark around the supermarkets with different nuts and seeds… this is more in that field, with less sugar and much more healthy probiotics.

This is a Quick Snack Recipe

Before we go On this is one of those Recipes where “Time on the tools” is very minimal. So your actual time having to do much is small, but you do need to freeze the dish. My recommendation would be to prepare this at night before you go to bed, so you have it already to enjoy in the morning, or in the afternoon, whenever your #hangry pains truly kick in

A Family Fun Recipe

For all our mums out there, it is a some serious family fun, so don’t be afraid to get the kids involved too.

All you need to do is get a small baking tray and line it with plastic film. This is going to help you remove your bark from the tray and also prevent it from sticking. Don’t be too concerned about any creases it may make. Its more about just covering the base

From there simply spread your yoghurt evenly over the pan. You want it to be about 1/3 to a 1/2 inch thick, but don’t worry if its not exactly flat I think it adds character

The next step is where you can get really creative. Pick your favorite nuts and berries and get ready to spread them over your yoghurt base. I told you this is some family fun, It also brings out your inner kid. The best thing about it is there are no rules and berries have a really good slow release energy aspect so they are super good for you as are the proteins from the nuts

A Healthy Chocolate Sauce Recipe!

From there put it in the Freezer for about 20 minutes just to harden up. From here you can make my Coco Choc Sauce, you can get this recipe by clicking here. If you have never made it before it is about to change your life. You know that magic chocolate sauce that hardens? Your about to learn a healthy version you can make all on your own.

Alternatively you can also get a super high percentage dark chocolate, melt that and we are game on. Pull your tray out give it a drizzle with chocolate and then put it back in the freezer to be ready for the next days antics

Gluten Free Frozen Yoghurt Fruit Bark

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: N/A

Cost: $5-7

Skill: Easy

Health Facts: Yoghurt no doubt has high levels of calcium, great for our bones and lesser known the contraction of our muscles. Yoghurt is also great for our gut as it has large amounts of probiotics. These are important for our the digestion and cleaning of our stomach, think of them as super moms!

Ingredients:

2 Cups Natural Yoghurt

1 Cup Favorite Berries

1/3 Cup Almonds, sliced

CocoChoc RECIPE HERE, melted (or high% cocoa dark chocolate)

Method:

  1. Line a baking sheet with plastic wrap and spread the yoghurt to a thin 1/3 to 1/2 inch thickness  (1-1.5cm)
  2. Pop in your favorite berries and sprinkle over the nuts, then place in the freezer to set for 1 hour
  3. Make your coco Choc sauce and drizzle over the top, place back in the freezer for a further 15 minutes or until set
  4. Slice up the Bark and keep in the freezer until you want to devour
