I was sent some raw chocolate recently, and after reviewing my latest Hone Health results—showing I need more boron and magnesium—I knew exactly what I wanted to make. This isn’t your childhood hot chocolate. It’s built for recovery, hormone support, and real performance.

Cacao contains boron, which plays a key role in hormonal regulation—specifically by reducing sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), a protein that binds to testosterone and makes it inactive. When SHBG levels are too high, less free (bioavailable) testosterone is circulating in your body. Boron helps lower SHBG, which can increase the amount of free testosterone available for things like muscle growth, energy, libido, and recovery.

Ingredients

1/3 Cup Raw Cacao

For the milk

4 cups of your favorite milk

1 cinnamon stick

2 Tbsp Honey

1 scoop collagen

Pinch of salt

Method

  1. Start by melting your chocolate using a double boiler: place a heatproof bowl over a pot of gently simmering water, making sure the base of the bowl doesn’t touch the water.

  2. In a separate saucepan over medium heat, bring your milk to a gentle simmer. As it heats, skim off any foam or skin that rises to the surface.

  3. Add in the honey, cinnamon stick, salt, and collagen. Whisk gently until everything is well combined. Let the milk cool slightly, then remove the cinnamon stick and transfer the mixture to a container. Store it in the fridge until you’re ready to use.

When you’re ready to serve:

    • With a steam wand: Froth the milk until velvety. In your coffee cup, temper the melted chocolate by stirring in a small amount of the hot milk. Then pour in the rest and give your best go at some barista-style latte art (mine was a solid 6/10).

    • Without a steam wand: Slowly whisk the warm milk mixture into the bowl of melted chocolate, a little at a time. Once it’s smooth and fully combined, return it all to the saucepan to gently reheat if needed.
