The most common thing you can do with minimal fuss is simply add some texture/crunch to your bowl. To me it does not get much better when you crunch down on a nut or texture raw cabbage slice with beautiful oil drizzled all over it with the fresh sweetness of a tomato. As good as all of those ingredients are the crunch is what both separates the tastes and brings them all together. So texture is the Easy Tip to Next Level your Healthy Bowl. If you were wondering my personal favorite is just adding some lovely walnuts, almonds, or cashews.
How is it simple?
Well like all good bowls you are simple just adding a natural ingredient and mixing, generally there is minimal prep too!
What is texture?
That crunch feeling when your teeth smash down on an ingredient. It is that satisfying that it is seen as the next taste alongside umami, sweet, sour, bitter and salt.

I absolutely love a textured bowl or salad. These days I feel the crunch of a bite relates so much to the flavour it is carrying. If you are after a lunch time summer number that is going to create all forms of a party in your mouth this is your new healthy go to. With the combination of nuts, creamy tahini of course that sweet and juicy tomato burst, it satisfies every section of your taste buds! Oh and it is super simple too! I love seeing the satisfaction of a good crunch when my family and friends make this.

Health Facts: There are tones of fibre found in this healthy lunch time salad, meaning you are going to stay fuller for longer and lead to more nutrient absorption. The tomatoes offer a powerful range of antioxidants assisting in preventing free radical damage.
Recipe: Textured Tomato Medley Bowl with Lemon Tahini Sauce
1 Can of Chickpeas
5 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tsp Cumin, ground
1 Tbsp Coriander, ground
Pinch of Salt
1/2 Cup Wild Rice
Juice of 1/2 a Lemon
1/3 Cup Tahini
1 Punnet of Perfection Fresh Tomato Medley
2 Large Handfuls of Arugula/Rocket
1/3 Cup Walnuts, crushed
- Preheat your oven to 200 Degrees C. Drain liquid from chickpeas and pour them out onto a baking tray, drizzle with 1 Tbsp of olive oil sprinkle with spices, salt and pepper and bake for 20 minutes or until crunchy.
- Combine your wild rice and 2 Cups of water into a small saucepan, bring to a boil on high heat covered. Then turn heat to low and allow to simmer for 20-25 minutes or until rice is fluffy with a bit of texture.
- Using a blender, hand held mixer or whisk, combine your tahini, lemon juice, 4 Tbsp Olive oil with a pinch of salt. If you want it more runny, for that drizzle effect, add a splash of water.
- In a large bowl mix together your chickpeas, rice, tomatoes, rocket and walnuts. Drizzle half the tahini sauce onto a serving plate top with bowl mix mix, finish with extra tomatoes and the remaining tahini sauce.
