It is a must for your next gatherings (watching the NFL playoffs, for example…) or even for a quick snack, whether you eat it with freshly cut veggies, crackers, or on a sourdough toast. There’s a dip for everyone and every occasion. We are taking a spin on the viral whipped feta recipes in this recipe. We add on top of this fresh cheesy goodness some tomatoes and parsley to make the perfect fresh Mediterranean dip you will ever try.
What type of cheese is feta?
Feta is a Greek Sheep’s milk cheese. It is a soft, salty cheese. Perfect crumbled on salads, melted in a grilled cheese, or whipped for a creamy dip, feta is versatile, and you can add any flavor you like to it.
Is feta healthy?
Feta is rich in protein and calcium. Compared to other cheese like parmesan, feta is lower in fat and calories. One ounce (28g) feta contains 75 calories, 4g protein, 6g fat, 1g of carbs. Moreover, it is rich in calcium which helps to maintain bone density.
Can this dip be made ahead of time?
This dip can be made in advance and can last up to 3 days in an airtight container in the fridge. However, it will thicken. Only add the toppings of your choice once you serve the dip. Chef’s tip? Whip the feta one more time to make sure the dip stays creamy and airy.
Ingredients
Whipped Feta
- 8 oz feta
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lemon
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt
- Pepper
Toppings
- 3/4 cup cherry tomatoes, diced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp walnuts (optional)
Method
- In a blender, combine the feta, olive oil, lemon juice, and spices. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- In a pan on medium-high heat, drizzle olive oil. Add the tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Stir for 1-2 minutes.
- Transfer the feta dip into a bowl, top with the tomatoes, parsley, walnuts. Drizzle olive oil.
